Travel: El Nido, Palawan

The beauty of the Philippines lies in the many islands. Took a trip down to Palawan for the El Nido Resort and stayed at Lagen. The plane ride took just a little over an hour– on a 19 seater Dornier plane. Here’s a tip for turbulence: prop your feet up on the chair when there are some bumps and make sure your legs and feet are at level on the chair. You won’t feel the bumps as much– tried and tested!

When we touched down, we had to take a 40 minute boat ride to get to Lagen. We passed a few smaller islands, some of them privately owned.

Finally reached Lagen.

It was a very hot day. The weather was very cooperative, no rain. But wow, it was really hot! But fantastic! You can take a swim in the pool if you wish to stay put and settle in a bit,

Or you can take the boat out again and go island hopping. That’s the beauty of El Nido.  There are plenty of surrounding islands to explore. Smaller beaches, but all the same, clear blue water!

Lagen is beautiful at night. The dinner buffet was quite good as well. You won’t go hungry, that’s for sure. Included in the dinner is a nice cultural dance show.

Retire early for the night or hang out with friends by the pool– the pool is open 24 hours a day! And come morning, you can have a nice island breakfast of the local fish.

This much I can tell you– you need an average of 4 days in El Nido to fully enjoy and explore each of the smaller and neighboring islands. This is a real vacation. Well worth the turbulence!
